Teen Critically Injured in Glendale Pedestrian Accident on Verdugo Road
Glendale, California (August 25, 2019) – Authorities said a 13-year-old boy was hit and critically injured by a suspected DUI driver on Friday, August 23, around 7:53 p.m. at 2801 N. Verdugo Road in Glendale.
According to a preliminary investigation, 63-year-old Christopher Carone of Glendale was driving a 2009 Subaru BRZ southbound when he failed to stop and hit the teen who was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.
Carone pulled to the curb and remained at the scene.
Responding firefighters treated the victim at the scene before he was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition.
Carone was arrested for suspicion of felony DUI causing great bodily injury and was held in lieu of $100,000 bail. He reportedly had a prior DUI conviction in 2014.
