2 people killed 4 injured in multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 5 in Bakersfield

Two people died and 4 injured severely after a multi-vehicle crash occurred in Bakersfield on Interstate 5

Bakersfield, California – According to the California Highway Patrol, the multi-vehicle crash involved three vehicles that were reported at around 3 pm on August 16.

The driver of Ford F-150 was traveling southbound on Interstate 5 when debris in the fast lane was noticed and the driver tried to avoid it.

The driver of the truck lost control and tried to suddenly change direction into the northbound lanes where it collided with a Honda SUV along with another semi-truck. The impact flipped the SUV and it went off the right side of the road into an orchard.

The occupants of the Honda were killed right at the spot while three others were injured, one of them is critical.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital along with other victims for treatment.

After this incident, the police has shut down Interstate 5 at Highway 99 for several hours. But the lanes were opened at around 6:30 pm.

There was no involvement of drugs or driving under the influence of alcohol as a factor of the crash.

This crash is underway the investigation.
